One of the columns has a graffito left by none other than Lord Byron in the early 1800s. Drive by the idyllic beaches of the Saronic Gulf – Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, and Varkiza areas as well and take a pick at people’s lives outside of Athens City…

During this Afternoon Tour to the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, we will have a wonderful drive along the scenic coastal road of the Athens Riviera which offers a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf.

Our Professional Guide will present to you the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion perched on a rocky promontory getting out into the open sea – 197 feet overlooking the Aegean Sea.

This is the most breathtaking panoramic view in the world, extending all the way to Kea Island and the Peloponnese (Argolis area) on a clear day. The Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion was built in the 5th century B.C., and many of its original Doric columns are still standing.
