The tour also includes a short stop at the Corinth Canal and a visit to the ancient eastern harbor of Cenchreae (Kechries).

The tour includes transportation by air-conditioned coach with Wi-Fi, a professional licensed English-speaking guide, entrance tickets to the Ancient Corinth Archaeological Site, all applicable taxes, and round-trip hotel transfer service from selected locations in Athens.

Corinth Canal

Depart from Athens in the morning and travel southwest toward the Peloponnese.

Make a short stop at the Corinth Canal, the impressive waterway that cuts through the Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from mainland Greece.

Enjoy views of the narrow canal and its steep rock walls before continuing toward Ancient Corinth.

Ancient Corinth Archaeological Site

Continue to Ancient Corinth, one of the wealthiest and most important cities of the ancient Greek world.

Its strategic position between the Corinthian and Saronic Gulfs made Corinth a major commercial and maritime center for many centuries.

The archaeological site preserves monuments from different periods of the city’s long history, including the Temple of Apollo, Roman Forum, fountains, stoas, public buildings, baths, and ancient streets.

The Temple of Apollo

One of the most recognizable monuments at Ancient Corinth is the Temple of Apollo, built during the 6th century BC.

Its surviving monolithic Doric columns dominate the archaeological site and are among the most important remains from the city’s Archaic period.

The temple reflects the importance of Corinth before the Roman conquest and provides a direct connection with the city’s Greek past.

Roman Corinth

Ancient Corinth was later rebuilt as an important Roman city and became the capital of the Roman province of Achaea.

The extensive Roman Forum became the center of public, administrative, commercial, and religious life.

Today, visitors can walk through the remains of the Roman city and see how Greek and Roman monuments developed side by side over centuries.

St. Paul and Ancient Corinth

Ancient Corinth also has an important place in early Christian history because of its connection with the Apostle Paul.

According to the New Testament tradition, Paul stayed in Corinth for approximately 18 months during his missionary travels and established an important early Christian community there.

His connection with the city later continued through his letters to the Corinthians, which became part of the New Testament.

During the guided visit, learn about the historical setting of Roman Corinth and the environment in which Paul lived and preached.

The Bema of St. Paul

Within the Roman Forum stands the Bema, a raised platform used for official public proceedings.

Christian tradition closely associates this monument with the account of Paul appearing before the Roman proconsul Gallio during his stay in Corinth.

The Bema remains one of the most important monuments for visitors interested in the early Christian history of the city.

Ancient Port of Cenchreae

After visiting Ancient Corinth, continue to the ancient port of Cenchreae (Kechries), located on the Saronic Gulf.

Cenchreae was the eastern harbor of Ancient Corinth and played an important role in connecting the city with the Aegean and the wider eastern Mediterranean.

The port is also closely associated with the travels of the Apostle Paul and the early Christian history of Corinth.

Enjoy a short stop in the area before beginning the return journey to Athens.

A very easy trip to join from Athens. We were impressed by the organization and by how much the guide knew. The ruins were beautiful and the views around the site were excellent.

Good choice if you've already seen the main things in Athens and want something outside the city. It doesn't take up your whole day either.

Everything was simple and well timed. The hotel pickup saved us a lot of effort, the canal stop was beautiful, and Ancient Corinth was fascinating. We were back in Athens early enough to enjoy the rest of the day.

We visited several archaeological sites in Greece, and Ancient Corinth was one of the most interesting.

A well-planned tour with a knowledgeable guide. The canal stop felt a little short, but there was enough time to take photos and enjoy the view. Ancient Corinth was absolutely worth the visit.
